Engineering degree programmes in software and computer engineering at Aarhus University are more popular than ever before. And the number of women who have been offered a place has doubled in just one year.

The Horizon 2020-funded innovation project, DIGITbrain, has started, and the plan is for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies from all over Europe to benefit from AI-based on-demand production.

Mechanical engineering has become popular at Aarhus University, and the new Bachelor's programme of the same name has attracted more than there’s room for. This year, mechanical engineering is the most popular Bachelor of Engineering programme. Overall, engineering degree programmes are up 18% on last year.

With a grant of almost DKK 5 million from the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme, EUDP, under Danish Energy Agency, work is about to begin on building a 100 sqm test facility to demonstrate new technology that stores green surplus energy in giant underground water balloons.

A Danish research team has invented a natural additive for livestock manure to reduce emissions of various gases from the manure, for example the greenhouse gas methane.

A team of researchers from Aarhus University have, for the first time ever, linked 40 years of productivity data from the construction industry with the actual work done. The results show that productivity in the construction industry has been declining since the 1970s. The results also explain the decline and how to achieve far more efficient construction in North America and Europe.

More young people have applied for an engineering programme at Aarhus University. Particularly the five-year MScEng programmes have received more applicants.
