Meet Jonas Dorsch from Germany

Jonas Dorsch has studied a Master of Science in Computer Engineering at Aarhus University (AU) and now works as a data engineer at the largest pump manufacturer in the world, the Danish-based company Grundfos. He’s originally from Würzburg in Germany and moved to Denmark after his bachelor’s. He highlights the Danish way of studying computer science and the informal tone as main reasons to study at AU.

21-year-old Amalie Robl spent almost half of her youth with medical specialists and in hospitals, because she was "born wrong". Her own experience with the healthcare system means that today she strives to help not only patients but also healthcare professionals who at times come under a lot of pressure.

In a green, circular future without fossil raw materials, we will run out of many materials if we do not get better at reusing them. Maja and Maja are both studying mechanical engineering, and in their Bachelor's project they are trying to develop new methods to recycle polycarbonates.

Meet Rojin from India

Originally from India, Rojin was drawn to AU due to its ranking as a Top 100 University. He thoroughly enjoyed his time studying MSc Mechanical Engineering at Aarhus University. Rojin decided to stay in Denmark after graduation and today he lives in Odense and works at Mayekawa Nordic as a Project Engineer.

Yumeng Li studied for her Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Aarhus University (AU) and is now working on her PhD on predicting cardiovascular diseases using artificial intelligence on eye retina photographs.

Using microscopic solar cells operated into the back of the eye, Asbjørn hopes to be able to restore the sight of patients with a number of hereditary eye diseases.

Meet Najlaa Ariibah Meutia from Indonesia

Denmark, one of the leading countries in terms of sustainability, was one of the main reasons 23-year-old Najlaa chose to study abroad there. In her time in Aarhus, she has been positively surprised by the friendly Danish work culture, as Najlaa says: “The way everybody smiles and helps each other… it’s really encouraging and a great environment to be in.”

Wilson is 28 years old and comes from Brazil. He studied Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Technologies at Aarhus University. Wilson now works for Vestas, one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturer, and lives in Ringkøbing.

Juliano from Brazil – Chemical and biotechnical engineering

29-year-old Juliano comes from Brazil and has studied his master's degree at Aarhus University with his wife. Today, they are both PhD students at the university and researchers at the Hydrothermal Processes research group, trying to make green fuels out of waste materials.

”Denmark has a very flat hierarchy, and that’s rare. I've never experienced this flat hierarchy before, so actually it was something of a culture shock. And it permeates everything – even on the programme,” says 23-years-old Sagar Rao from India, who’s studying mechanical engineering at Aarhus University.

Artificial intelligence behind super design for buildings

Lasse got the idea for working with artificial intelligence in building when he started work on his master thesis.

Meet Achim, from Germany, who now has an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Aarhus University. After coming to Denmark to study, Achim knew he wanted to stay here for longer, and now, he is working and building a life in Aarhus.

Startup to take smart chip for designer furniture to market

Three engineering students have developed an ID tag that can be built into designer furniture and link it wirelessly on the internet. This can help prevent theft and receiving stolen goods across national borders.

Can you measure quality of view?

Two engineering students have written a Master's thesis, which may influence the construction of student accommodation in the future. In collaboration with researchers, they have developed and tested a formula that makes it possible to calculate the quality of the view from small student flats.
